Onum is a Madrid-based company that builds a real-time telemetry pipeline platform. It filters, normalizes, enriches and routes security data. Its technology sits in the pipeline between the systems that produce security and observability data and the tools that analyse it, so data is processed as it flows, not stored first and analysed later.

FROM IDEA TO EXIT IN 35 MONTHS

Kibo Ventures invested at Pre-Seed in 2022 and exited 35 months later, when CrowdStrike agreed to acquire the company. The investment returned a 4.2x multiple and a 76.7% IRR from entry to exit. Onum raised €37.5 million in total and created 80 jobs along the way, as of July 2025. For a deep-tech company that went from first cheque to a sale to a global cybersecurity leader in under three years, the pace stands out.

THE TECHNOLOGY

Onum is built on a proprietary stateless, in-memory architecture. It processes security and observability data in real time instead of the legacy batch-and-store approach, and it can run analysis inside the pipeline, so detections start before data reaches the platform that stores it. It also filters data, which reduces storage costs.

CrowdStrike's announcement cites performance claims for the technology: up to five times more events per second than its nearest competitor, up to 50% lower data storage costs, up to 70% faster incident response and 40% less ingestion overhead. CrowdStrike did not publish the comparison baselines or test methods behind these figures.

"Kibo Ventures has always been a great support in the good times, but more importantly in difficult ones. This is something I will always remember and that makes Kibo Ventures a great long-term partner. I am grateful to have you with me in the Onum journey. Thanks!"

Pedro Castillo, CEO

A FOUNDER WITH A TRACK RECORD

Pedro Castillo is Onum's founder and CEO. He previously founded Devo, and launched Onum together with Lucas Varela. In announcing the deal, Castillo said that pipelines should do more than transport data.

THE INVESTMENT

Kibo Ventures made its first investment in 2022 at Pre-Seed with €2.5 million. Insight Partners and Dawn Capital were the other notable investors in later rounds. In April 2024, Onum raised a $28 million Series A led by Dawn Capital, with Insight Partners and Kibo Ventures taking part. The funds went into accelerating product development, expanding the team and launching in the US. The company raised €37.5 million in total.

THE EXIT

On 27 August 2025, CrowdStrike announced an agreement to acquire Onum. The plan is to make Falcon Next-Gen SIEM the data foundation for agentic security and IT operations, with native data streaming and in-pipeline detection built into the Falcon platform. CrowdStrike said this would remove the data migration bottleneck that often required third-party tools. CrowdStrike did not disclose the price in its announcement. Press reports valued the deal at $290 million, while the exit value in Kibo's records is €320 million.

WHAT THE DEAL MEANS FOR ONUM

The acquisition gives Onum distribution through CrowdStrike's network. In the company's own words, joining CrowdStrike means it can deliver its vision "at unprecedented scale".
